Why Daylight? Wherefore Savings?
I hate daylight savings. Hate it.
The math confuses me. Yes, I know I should get this since I essentially majored in mathematics. But do I lose an hour of sleep by gaining an hour on the clock, or gain an hour of sleep by losing an hour on the clock? (Both are right.) The fact that I have to think about this simple arithmetic for more than a few seconds every year is always humiliating.
Daylight savings giveth, and it taketh away. Even though I love the switch in October (we substract one hour from the clock, and add an hour to our sleep schedule), I hate the switch in April. It throws my sleep schedule for a loop. Even worse: it throws my daughter's sleep schedule into orbit.
There is no corresponding change in work schedule. If they are going to do daylight savings, they should institute worker savings as well. 9 to 5 should switch to 10 to 6 accordingly. That way I can always get to work on time after the switch.
